How to install Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c 64-bit on Solaris 10 64-bit

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

In this article I will describe the installation of Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c 12.1.0.1.0 64-bit installation On Oracle Solaris 10 64-bit. Before proceeding make sure that repository database is already installed. You can find the 11gR2 database installation here. Installation of database completes most of the system parameter settings. 

Before installation of Enterprise  Manager you need to de-configure the database control repository from the above installed database. Run the following command from "oracle" user to do so.

$ emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop

Provide sys and sysman user passwords when prompted. Backup the spfile and execute the following commands on terminal.

sqlplus / AS SYSDBA 

ALTER SYSTEM SET processes=300 SCOPE=SPFILE;
ALTER SYSTEM SET session_cached_cursors=200 SCOPE=SPFILE;
ALTER SYSTEM SET job_queue_processes=20 SCOPE=SPFILE;

SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE
STARTUP

Download the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c 12.1.0.1.0 64-bit for Solaris 64-bit and extract it. 

cd /export/home/oracle

$ unzip em12_solarisx64_disk1of2.zip
$ unzip em12_solarisx64_disk2of2.zip

$ ./runInstaller

Un-check the security updates check box and click Next.

Click Yes.

Select the "Skip" radio option and click Next.

 Click Next.

Select "Advanced" option in "Create a new Enterprise Manager System" option. Provide Middleware Home Location and click Next.

Select the management capabilities of your choice and click Next.

Provide Weblogic and Nodemanager information and click Next.

Provide installed database connection information and click Next.

Click Yes.

Click Yes.

 Provide sysman's password and oms registration password and click Next.

Click Next.

Review information and click Next.

Review information and click Next.

Review progress.

Open a terminal and run the above mentioned script with "root" user.

Review information, copy Enterprise Manager Cloud Control URL and paste in a browser.

Enter sysman and its password and click Login.

Add following variables in oracle user's profile.


ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle
export ORACLE_BASE
 
ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/11.2.0.3/db_1
export ORACLE_HOME
 
OMS_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/middleware/oms
export OMS_HOME
 
AGENT_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/middleware/agent/core/12.1.0.1.0
export AGENT_HOME
 
 

Start Enterprise Manager by executing following commands.

$ cd ~
$ . ./.profile
 
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart $ORACLE_HOME
$OMS_HOME/bin/emctl start oms
$AGENT_HOME/bin/emctl start agent
 
 
 
Stop Enterprise Manager by executing following commands. 
 
$OMS_HOME/bin/emctl stop oms -all
$AGENT_HOME/bin/emctl stop agent
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbshut $ORACLE_HOME

How to Upgrade Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control Release 11.1.0.1 to Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Release 12.1.0.1

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

In this article i will describe "How to upgrade Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control Release 11.1.0.1 to Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Release 12.1.0.1" on Red Hat Linux 5.3 OS. For this you have to download Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12cR1 from oracle website http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/index.html

Pre-Upgrade Tasks
1. Apply patch 13434531 on OMS Home.
2. Using Upgrade Control select the upgrade approach.
3. Upgrade the Grid Control 11gR1 to Cloud Control 12cR1

Download the patch 13434531 from "My Oracle Support" and unzip it. Follow the instruction in README.txt to successfully apply the patch.
 
$ cd /u01/oracle/Middleware/agent11g/bin
$ ./emctl stop agent
$ cd /u01/oracle/Middleware/oms11g/bin
$ ./emctl stop oms
$ export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oracle/Middleware/oms11g
$ cd /Uninstall/13434531
$ $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch apply

$ cd /u01/oracle/Middleware/oms11g/bin
$ ./emctl start oms
$ cd /u01/oracle/Middleware/agent11g/bin
$ ./emctl start agent

Open the Grid Control in a browser and under Deployments tab select the upgrade control as shown in figure below

Under "Select Upgrade type link" select "1-System" as in this case all the components on grid control is on one system.

Under "Preupgrade steps" click "Overview". On Overview page click Save and then Back

Under "Preupgrade steps" click Manager Software. Under "Provide Software Location" heading provide the plugins patch as shown in figure below.

Now run the runInstaller of the Enterprise Manager 12c Software

Un-check the check box and click Next button.

Click Yes.

Select "Skip" option and click Next.

Select "upgrade" option and "One System Upgrade". Select the grid control you want to upgrade and provide new Middleware home in the "Middleware Home Location" path. Click Next.

Enter password for "SYS" and "SYSMAN" users for repository database.

Copy the emkey to the repository as shown in the figure above and click "Next" again on the Figure - 9

Click "Yes" on the above screen and "Next" on Figure - 9

unlock and unexpire the ORACLE_OCM user and click OK on screen above and Next on Figure - 9

Select all the plugins and click Next.

Provide WebLogic username and password and click Next.

Review the Summary and click Install.

Open a terminal, login with root and execute above mentioned script

$ export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oracle/Middleware/oms11g
$ su - root
$ /u01/oracle/Middleware12c/oms/allroot.sh

Click Close and open the URL of Enterprise Manager Cloud Control in a browser.

Provide SYSMAN and its password and lick Login.

 Click "Select as my home" button under Summary section.

Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control 11.1.0.1 is upgraded to Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12.1.0.1
